AMFG Launches Machining Strategy to Reimagine Machine Shop Estimating Software

Bringing CAM-Level Transparency to Complex Part Manufacturing Estimating & Quoting

While traditional manufacturing estimating software often generates "black box" cost calculations, AMFG’s new Machining Strategy breaks down estimates by individual feature. The update gives custom part manufacturers direct visibility into the exact CNC milling and turning setups, tool selections, and cycle-time logic used to build each quote.

Visualizing the machining path automatically allows experienced estimators to quote significantly faster, while giving newer team members a standardized roadmap to learn complex quoting workflows. Additionally, estimators retain full granular control, allowing them to incorporate complex operations like threading or instantly include and exclude specific features to protect job margins.

Upgrading Sentinel AI with 2D PDF Drawing Analysis

Alongside 3D CAD model enhancements, AMFG has upgraded its Sentinel AI engine. Building on its ability to automatically detect CAD geometry and title block data, Sentinel AI can now identify and extract required secondary surface treatments directly from 2D PDF drawings. Sentinel AI can now also conduct multi page analysis to ensure that all the specifications and requirements are extracted.

A new split-screen view allows estimators to cross-reference 2D PDF drawings against 3D CAD models simultaneously, making highlighted specifications, tight tolerances, and secondary finishes easier to review without switching screens.
